and so she said, with much resolve...

It’s that time of year – the time for resolutions and such! I’ve been one much for them in the past, but I really feel like starting fresh in certain areas this year. Some of the things on this list are only small, and others are a bit bigger and less realistic…but that’s life, I guess!

1. Keep a diary. Not a ‘Dear Diary’ type, but more of an organizer diary. My not-so-subtle mother bought me the book ‘Sorted! The ultimate guide to organizing your life – once and for all’ for Christmas, and that’s one of the first things it tells you to do. And if you know me, you know it’s not a bad idea at all! I very much want to try to be more organized, starting now. I think it would help a lot with keeping some of the rest of my goals.

2. Continue this blog. I think I’ve been doing a good job so far, but I definitely want to keep it up, and perhaps do a bit more each week. Not studying means that I rarely do any writing at all, and it’s really important to me not to lose it. Having a place to write down my thoughts and poems helps more than I thought it would.

3. Keep in touch with my friends. I know since I’ve been with Alex I’ve been neglecting people more and more because I feel as though I don’t need anyone else, but I really do want to spend time with people. She’s everything to me, but sometimes I feel as though I put too much pressure on her and become more dependent as the days go by. I have some good friends who I definitely don’t want to lose.

4. Volunteer for CFS OR look into Surf Life Saving. I’ve discussed this in a blog before, so I won’t go into it further.

5. Get Senior First Aid certificate. This will help with either of the above things.

6. Move out of home. This is something I actually may not have a choice in, but I still feel that it is something I need to do for myself. Not only do I crave the freedom and independence, but I think that it might actually save the flailing relationship I currently have with my mother. The thought simply excites me all-round.

7. Eat better and exercise. Standard resolution!

8. Be stricter with vegetarian diet. This will be a lot easier when (6) has been accomplished, because my parents are very against it within their household. It’s something I feel strongly about though, and I want to follow my own beliefs.

9. Find time to read more. I used to be such a bookworm (I was actually harassed about it in school), and now I find myself with less time to do it. It saddens me a lot, because stories are our whole life, and those of other people – whether fictional or otherwise – can offer more inspiration than anything else. Another thing I feel rather strongly about!

10. Continue to work hard at my relationship. I don’t think there will ever be times as hard as we’ve already shared this year, and we’ve come through strong despite what anyone thought. I believe more in our love than anything else in the world – it makes me a better person within myself, and has improved my character for the better by far. Our partnership is for life, and no time shorter.

Ten is a good number. I know there are other things, but who ever said new years was the only time for resolutions? I’ll keep you posted!

Peace out x
